County Profile
West Yorkshire’s geographical area covers about 2032 square kilometres (785 square miles).

The resident population of 2.1 million people is divided between the five metropolitan districts of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

The policing needs of the county are diverse. West Yorkshire contains pockets of affluence and poverty. Its population includes people from a wide variety of cultural and minority ethnic backgrounds.
